In part 1, which you can read here, we shared how to sell the moments by elevating the experience like they do at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles. There are more ways for you to sell the moments with your customers and even your employees by thinking outside the box.
Insight
Insight refers to the "aha moment" in which you suddenly have a realization or clarity about something. This can happen when you finally remember something you've been thinking about it for a long period or when you figure out a problem you've been trying to solve for a while or when you realize what you've been missing out on, like it happened for some factory workers.
A factory owner decided to offer a 401-K for his employees with a nice match, but no one signed up. So, he called a meeting of all his employees near the end of December. The owner waited for everyone to arrive to the meeting before entering through a door in the back of the room with a big black bag. He walked to the front of the room and dumped a large amount of cash on the table. He told his employees that this is the amount of money they gave up because they did not sign up for the 401-K match. The owner went on to say that he was going to take all this money and out it in his bank account. Next year at this time, they would have another meeting. He asked them if they wanted this money in their pockets or in his? Of course, there was a rush to sign up for the 401-K after the meeting.
Connection
A connection deepens the ties with others, like your customers. And it doesn't have to be complex or difficult, but it can easily be overlooked. A friend of mine flies a lot for work and there's an airline that he frequently uses. This airline doesn't remember anything about my friend's previous flights. It doesn't remember that my friend always likes to search by total travel time. He has to change the search priority every time. The airline doesn't remember where my friend likes to sit—front of the plane or back, window or aisle. Nothing!
Conversely, when I go to order a pizza online, my favorite pizza place remembers my last six orders and allows me to alter a previous order to make it easier for me. If you go on a cruise, you will have the same server at dinner every night. That server will remember the name of everyone in your party and what they had to drink the night before. It's simple things like this that can make a connection that your customers will remember, tell their friends about and keep them coming back to you for whatever service or product your business offers.
